We respectfully acknowledge the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose unceded territory we live, and the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ nations whose relationships with these lands and waters shape their political thought, governance and self-determining authority that should inform how we all relate to this place

Welcome!

WE REALLY CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU AND WELCOME YOU TO OUR NEWCOMERS' CLUB!

However, we have reached membership capacity.  If you wish to join a waitlist, please contact our Membership Coordinator, Sheila at ncgvmembership@gmail.com. Please include your phone number with your enquiry.

Our waitlist will be maintained on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date and time a request comes through Sheila's email.

All membership criteria are required to join the waitlist. (See Membership Criteria, below.)

The waitlist usually moves fairly rapidly--a month or two is often all the waiting necessary.

We really do want you to join us. Please consider getting in touch and we will meet you, we hope, very soon.

  • regular newsletters, and a forum site, for information, local highlights and pictures of recent events
  • our calendar, which lists all activities and events for the day and month, so that you can easily organize your NCGV time.

A Warm Welcome

The Newcomers’ Club of Greater Victoria warmly welcomes women of all ages to our club.  We are a non-profit group, with members volunteering for all the positions that make this club so dynamic. If you’ve recently moved to the Greater Victoria area or have lived here for up to four years, we think you’ll find our club an excellent way to enjoy your new home, to meet other members and to develop lasting friendships. Explore our site to find out more about our monthly meetings and wide array of activities.  Read more about the benefits of membership here.  It would be great to have you join us!

About Us

We are a club of over 250 women from all parts of Canada and the world. We offer many opportunities for women to meet one another in a friendly atmosphere and to learn more about their new home.

Monthly luncheon meetings with interesting speakers run from September to May. In June, we meet for our annual general meeting, and to bid our 'graduating' members adieu and bonne chance.

In addition, we have over 20 activities and other events, some daytime, some evening, some that welcome members' partners or guests. These range from bridge, book clubs and knitting to hiking, walking and gardening groups.

Most activities are year-round, but some cease over either the summer (e.g. some book clubs) or winter (e.g. biking) months.

Activities and Events

There are so many exciting things to do with your Newcomers’ Club of Greater Victoria friends! Our activity groups reflect the interests of our members, so find a group that interests you, or plan to start a new one. We always welcome new ideas for activities and new conveners to help get them going.

You can join an activity group anytime during the year, as long as spaces are available.

Once you have joined an activity group, it is up to you to decide whether you would like to participate in all outings or just occasionally. Whatever works for you!
